Mid-Am Board of Directors Elects its First Female President

April 7, 2010

Wauconda, IL -- For the first time in its history, the Mid-America Horticultural Trade Show (Mid-Am) has elected a woman to serve as President of the Board of Directors. Barbara Rosborough, of Rosborough Partners, Inc. in Libertyville, Illinois was elected to serve a one-year term as President during a recent meeting to determine new officers for the Mid Am 2010-2011 Board of Directors. “I am looking forward to the future of Mid Am, not only to better our industry, but helping our industry as a whole to make a difference in our community,” said Rosborough.

The Board of Directors is comprised of representatives from Mid-Am’s three sponsoring organizations: the Illinois Green Industry Association (IGIA), the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA), and the Wisconsin Green Industry Federation (WGIF).

In addition, Bill Vogel of Spring Valley Turf Products in Jackson, Wisconsin was elected to serve a one-year term as Vice President, and was reappointed to serve another three-year term representing WGIF on the Mid-Am Board. Carsten Hoffmeyer of Hoffie Nursery in Union, Illinois representing IGIA was elected to a one-year term as Secretary. New to the Executive Committee, Dave Story of Bartlett Tree Experts in Northbrook, Illinois was elected to serve a one-year term as Treasurer, and was reappointed to serve another three-year term representing ILCA on the Mid-Am Board.

Mid-Am appointed one new Director during the recent elections. Veronica Krenzel of The Toro Company, Inc. in Villa Park, Illinois was elected to serve a three-year term as Director representing IGIA. Krenzel, a 20-year veteran of the irrigation industry, currently is District Manager for The Toro Company’s Irrigation Division. She holds the designation of Certified Irrigation Contractor from the Irrigation Association and serves on IGIA’s Education Committee. Krenzel plans to expand the Mid-Am Trade Show’s audience beyond its current perception as simply a landscape show. “My goal as a Mid-Am Board Member is to never again hear the phrase ‘the Mid-Am is not an irrigation show’,” said Krenzel.

Mid-Am, America’s premier horticultural trade show, is sponsored by the Illinois Green Industry Association (IGIA), the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA), and the Wisconsin Green Industry Federation (WGIF) and is governed by a Board of Directors, which directs the show, its programs, and activities. Mid-Am was developed by green industry professionals, for green industry professionals. Unlike for-profit trade shows, proceeds from the show go back to IGIA, ILCA, and WGIF to support a sustainable green industry. For more information, contact Mid-Am at 1000 N.
