Mid Am Moving to Navy Pier in 2011 August 18, 2010 |
Wauconda, IL -- After seven successful years at Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center, the Mid Am Horticultural Trade Show (Mid Am) is returning to Navy Pier beginning with the 2011 trade show. The Mid Am Trade Show had been located at Navy Pier for eight years, from 1996 until 2003, until the show moved to Lakeside Center in 2004 and then the West Building at McCormick Place in 2007. “During the 2010 show at McCormick Place West, the Mid Am Board of Directors made the decision to move the show back to Navy Pier,” said Mid Am President Barb Rosborough of Rosborough Partners, Inc. in Libertyville, Illinois. “The news about the show moving to Navy Pier immediately created excitement; Navy Pier is a favorite location for Mid Am among exhibitors and attendees alike.” The Mid Am Trade Show is scheduled for January 19 through 21, 2011 at Chicago’s Navy Pier.
During the show’s earlier years at Navy Pier, attendance grew 34 percent, exhibit space grew 40 percent and space was sold out every year. “Moving the show back to Navy Pier gives us the space we need while offering a familiar and comfortable venue in which to fine tune the show,” said Mid Am Managing Director Rand Baldwin, CAE. “Mid Am has always had the goal of providing the finest trade show experience to all involved, and this move to Navy Pier is no exception.”
Mid Am attracts key green industry decision makers who specify, approve, and buy equipment, plants, products, and services for their businesses. These industry leaders come from every corner of the green industry, including landscape construction and maintenance professionals, garden center retailers, landscape designers and architects, golf course superintendants, arborists, irrigation specialists, public and private land managers, and much more.
Mid Am continues to be the go-to show in January by providing attendees with a well-rounded industry experience, including hundreds of exhibits displaying thousands of products, services, and equipment for the green industry, as well as comprehensive educational programs and networking events. Mid Am 2011 will include the Pre-show Conference on Tuesday, the Mentoring Roundtable on Wednesday, and the Midwinter Conference on Wednesday and Thursday, as well as education from partner organizations within the industry, providing a wealth of education for green industry professionals. Details on educational programs for the 2011 show will be available soon.
Returning for a third successful year, the Mid Am Mixer and Reception offers a relaxed atmosphere for industry professionals to expand and cultivate their network of contacts. The Mid Am Mixer provides an opportunity for industry professionals to meet people who can assist with solving problems, developing ideas, or sharing information. Hosted by the Mid Am Trade Show’s three owner organizations—the Illinois Green Industry Association (IGIA), the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA), and the Wisconsin Green Industry Federation (WGIF)—the Mid Am Mixer & Reception will be held in the Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier on Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
A brochure containing details about the Mid Am 2011 will be sent to past Mid Am attendees and others in the green industry in October. For more information about the 2011 Mid Am Trade Show at Navy Pier or to receive regular updates about the show, visit www.midam.org.
